This replaced what was known as the Railway Hotel, which was destroyed by fire in 1923 Bungal Dam (2011). A 47m high dam, across the West Moorabool River, retains a storage of 59,545 megalitres when full. Water in the dam is used as a domestic supply for Ballarat and Geelong Former Lal Lal Railway Station (2011) - the railway in opened here in 1862 Lal Lal Primary School No 863 (2011) - opened in 1866.
